Play this hand...
$.5/$1 usual loose passive.
I'm half asleep and not caring because i'm only here for the last orbit to be polite since i just took a large pot and don't want to seem like a hit and run. So with that i have no read on anyone other than my notes, which aren't on the players in this pot. So anyway, i'm in the button with Q [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] T [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] . Everyone limpers/completes/whatever these people normally do with 3 5 sooted! anyhow, ..and all 6 see the flop of: T [img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] A [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] SB bets out, call, call all in, Fold, CO raises. What do you do right now? And on every street? Thanks. |
Re: Play this hand...
What do you do right now?
I'd 3-bet to see where I'm at, most likely the CO has Ax or an open-ended str8 draw, if he comes back over the top, you could put him on ATo or KJo, who knows maybe the SB would cap it. The question here is, 'what hands can I eliminate since the CO did NOT raise preflop'? And on every street? Depends on what the streets and actions are... |
Re: Play this hand...
RIght now, I would 3-bet. CO most likely has Ax, possibly AT. AQ is out since no raise preflop, as is AA and QQ. KJ is possible, too. If he simply calls, then he has no straight or he is an idiot if he does. If he caps, then you are behind.
From here on out I think my best strategy would be to look at what the cards and players are doing before i make my decision, so if you are posting that later, my answer depends. If you are not, then I will say, cap every street and see what happens. -AA |
Re: Play this hand...
I thought about 3 betting but it would hardly give me any info. Due to the only hand he'd come and cap it with is KJ, i think most would call that flop for a 3 bet with any 2 pair.
So if i 3 bet and he calls i'm still none the wiser. |

Maybe, but you can drive all other players out. Also, if he doesn't cap, then you can eliminate KJ. Therefore, depending on the turn and river you can now see where you stand. flopping bottom two pair leaves you a lot of outs. It would be interesting if he had JT, KT, maybe even QT and a J or K hit on the turn, giving each of you a gutshot strait and two pair. -AA |
Re: Play this hand...
Due to the reason i said i didn't 3 bet i just called. But that did however get me in a hole.
He went out and bet again, i'm thinking i'm behind to a higher 2 pair, since i don't usually see top pair raising in these games. So it was bet, call. Bet, call. I took it down for a nice sized pot due to another player coming along with us but i missed out on bets. Well, i missed out on $.5 from 2 players since if i had of capped they would have both gone into check/call mode. The raiser had Kx just being the usual idiot who bets into gutshots in my games. |

And you don't want to know if he holds KJ? i think most would call that flop for a 3 bet with any 2 pair. Or re-raise any-two, or call with any-one. So if i 3 bet and he calls i'm still none the wiser. ...then he checks a blank on the turn, you bet he calls, now you are wiser. OR ...then he check-raises a blank on the turn, now you are wiser. OR ...then he checks, the SB calls and he folds, now you are wiser. OR the SB caps the flop the CO and you call, the the SB bets out, the CO raises, now you are wiser. The actions and reactions on your flop 3-bet set up the actions on the later streets. |
Re: Play this hand...
OK i'm agreed i should have 3 bet.
I'd still consider my read to be hard since this player bet the way he did with that hand, reads are hard in these games, but i didn't make my read any easier. Thanks again! |
Re: Play this hand...

i play this limit and I most definitely agree and would dare say almost impossible. I'd still consider my read to be hard since this player bet the way he did with that hand. True, its a difficult read, but if you 3-bet then it costs you a dollar here, to find out loads of information on whether or not you should call the turn for another $1. If you simply call, you find out nothing, then you most likely will have to call the turn and that will cost you $1.50 at least, if there are no more raises. Its sort of the same for semi-bluffing on the flop. Since the bets increase on the turn, you can raise a straight or flush draw here for $1, getting a free river card (hopefully) So you get to see the next two cards for $1. However, if you call (as HPFAP seems to be constantly reminding me is rarely the right move), then you cost yourself $1.50. .50 for the flop and 1 for the next bet on the turn. Just something to think about. -AA |
Re: Play this hand...
I agree with the posts, after 40 hours of playing i've consider 3 hands i played to be bad and have posted, this is one of the 3. I felt like a passive calling station, but something also had me convinced i wasn't going to take this pot.
However if i 3 bet i would have known, the short term this wasn't a problem i missed out on a $1, but it was a long term mistake. Thanks again. |
