5-10 Battle of the blinds...

Opponent is loose. Loose to the tune of 40 VP$IP and 13.4% Preflop raise. He's also pretty aggressive.

I just burned my opponent a few hands before:

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $10 BB (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

saw flop|saw showdown

MP1 ($313.50)
MP2 ($775)
MP3 ($324.75)
CO ($975)
Button ($1161)
SB ($1061.50)
BB ($1170.50)
Garland ($1047)
UTG+1 ($1913.50)

Preflop: Garland is UTG with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
Garland calls $10, UTG+1 raises to $45, 7 folds, Garland calls $35.

Flop: ($105) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Garland bets $75, UTG+1 calls $75.

Turn: ($255) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Garland bets $140, UTG+1 folds. UTG+1 shows J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Final Pot: $395

Results below:
No showdown. Garland wins $395.

in the second hand you should bet more on the turn or check.

I'm pretty sure the burning was where he took $75 off him with a flopped set.

Results and thoughts...

Due to how the first hand went and his looseness, I kind of played this hand goofy. The flop was excellent for my hand, and I experimented with a small weak bet, and my opponent took the bait and mini-raised. I called and evaulated the turn. I get the feel that my opponent was going to try to outplay me on this hand.

Again a beautiful turn card. However, I didn't want to risk a free river card. I had to bet something, but I didn't necessarily want to blow my opponent off the hand. So I bet a little less than 1/2 the pot...something he would call with any part of the board. He calls, and I'm confident I'm ahead.

The river was interesting because the Q was nice as I didn't suspect that the river helped him. I was torn between a value bet or trying to induce a bluff. I decided to fain weakness and try to get my opponent to bluff. He bet the full pot, I thought for about 7 seconds and called. He showed T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], and I took it down.

My opponent made a mistake as he had showdown value and probably shouldn't bet.

I could probably value bet the river, and he might call. Or he might bluff raise and make it really hard for me to call.

I'm not sure what the long term right move is on the river against an aggressive opponent, but it worked this time.

The word is feign.

Could you please answer my question asked previously in the thread? Please post the hand where you burned him. Seeing how you played that hand is important context to have in terms of evaluating your line here.

Re: 5-10 Battle of the blinds...

After total ownage in first hand you played second perfectly too.
After flop minraise its pretty clear that Villain has some kind of draw. You charged the maximum on the flop and turn and then you set sneaky trap on the river. Villain wasnt asleep too and cought his last chance seeing great amount of folding equity and decided to fire on the river hoping that you will fold AA/KK/JJ here. You did outwit him however by bringing your thoughts to higher level higher and called. Some good highstakes poker there...

Best wishes
