related parlay bet

On bet365.com, I tried to put a do a two-team parlay with the niners +13 and the under. But an error message comes up saying that "the bets are related and cannot be on the same betslip." I have never seen this before, but this is only the third site I have used. Anyone have any reasons for this?

the reason is because it cuts into their edge. VIPsportsbetting has always let me do it though.

My book let me do it a few weeks ago with the Ravens/Steelers game.

I wish they hadn't.

Re: related parlay bet

It's actually called a correlated parlay. It's a type of bet that can be advantageous, so bookies generally don't allow it.

Eg say god offers me a bet on whether it'll rain tomorrow, and another bet on whether I'll get wet (by rain;)). He tells me that there's a 50% chance it'll rain tomorrow. I take a walk outside every day, so I know I'll get wet. So being the clever bastard that I am, I decide to parlay "won't rain" with "won't get wet", and "will rain" with "will get wet".

Each bet has a 50% chance, yet I get a payoff of 13:5!!! This is a pretty extreme example, but I think it gets the point across.
