do i fold too easy?

right im getting hammered as usual and need to find out what im doing wrong,i tihnk i might be folding too easy in the face of agression or something like that,

UB 2/4$ 6 handed, hero is in Button with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

UTG calls, fold, fold,Hero raises, folded to utg who calls

FLOP:J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

utg checks,i bet,he raises,i fold

ok i thought this was a standard fold but after reading slankys short handed section in HPFAP im wondered should i just call to see what turn brings,

I think it is an easy fold just wondering if my reasoning is too weak for sh play?

I would call and fold turn UI, you have at least one overcard and a bd flush draw, plus the possibility he has a heart draw, or a 4, I think it is a very easy peel.

I peel too. At this limit this is hardly ever a jack, so you will often have six clean outs plus the back door flush draw (in my experience this c/r is flush draw/4/small pocket pair) Definately enough to take one off.

yea i was thinking that he didnt have a J as they usually wait till the turn or river to start raising that,

although do i really have 6 clean outs with the weak 8 kicker?

I think 99 is usually raising pre flop, so your 8 is usually good here. A10 though AK probably raise too, so unless he has A9 or A4 you're probably good here also. A4 is the one hand you don't want him to have, and maybe you should discount the outs slightly, but I still think there is easily enough to take one off.

A4 isn't as bad of a holding as you're making it out to be. If you hit either of your hole cards, you're pulling ahead because the board is paired with the jacks. If you hit your ace, you got aces and jacks with a higher kicker than the villain. I'd call and fold UI on the turn.

Unless I read him as passive then I keep calling unless another heart hits. I also will fold if 2 more broadways hit the board.

I'm in flux right now about my paired board play, but one thing I do know, calling down wouldn't be terribly -ev unless you know that villian plays too passive.

I'm thinking about defining some rules for this. Here, I'd consider peeling and calling any turn if a heart doesn't hit. And if I'm still around by the river, I'll always call that. In general, I think I'd like to have 2 overs to the unpaired board card and a backdoor draw to call down. If it's a blind battle then I can loosen up significantly.
