method to Matusow\'s madness?

I just don't get some of these plays I'm saying on Cardplayer. He calls a re-raise and an all in with Q7? He's calling big raises with KJ off, K9 off? Someone explain. Are you looking to just flop two pair when a K hits?

He pushed in for 8k more over the top of a re-raise to 2500 with the Q7o, and the other player made a very loose call with A8o. As far as hands like KJ, K9, calling raises is not the typical TAG play, but if you are better than your opponents postflop it's not all that bad to make calls in position with potentially dominated hands.

Sounds to me like he accurately read the situation, however, the guy called anyway with junk. Hard to put moves on calling stations.

I think he's hit 2 runner runner straights so far in the tournament of chamions so far, the deck hits him in teh face quite alot it seems, heard similar stuff from the WSOP.

It has to or else with the number of hands he gets in he'd be out quickly. He and Layne Flack definitely make some loose and questionable pre-flop calls.

Post flop skills and correctly reading your opponent are much more important attributes than 'good preflop hands.' Matusow is very good at reading people.

I am not here to defend Mike Matasow...He's got his faults, and he's also been railroaded - (truth be known, if given the choice between the word of a convicted drug dealer or the Las Vegas Police Dept. regarding the circumstances, I'm almost inclined to side with the drug dealer...

Having said that, there are a lot of ignorant pricks who probably also deserve the nickname "The Mouth" -

and having also said that, at least Mike can make the final table at the WSOP every now and again...if you're gonna be an arrogant [censored], at least have the skill to justify the arrogance...

I love how you say this about Mike but your probably a big Sam Farha fan. Sammy makes far looser calls then almost anyone on the circuit.

Lets not forget Sammy's 9-2 suited preflop call Those soooooooted hands are irresistable!

I agree that Mike uses his ability to read players to his advantage more. The Q-7o hand was good - Mike was the aggressor, who had read some guy for a weak ace. The guy was willing to take the odds with his A-8 and got unlucky. Oh well! That's what that guy gets for not understanding that Mike had him pegged correctly and acted on it.

I hope he wins the damn TOC.
