888 on the Flop

NL 100 - Party 6Max

Hero limps UTG ($110) with 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
4 callers including maniac ($200) to my left who has raised about 60% of hands (this being an exception) and the button ($75) who has been straight forward in his play.

Pot = $5ish
Flop: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Checked to Hero who bets $5
Maniac calls $5
Button raises to $30

Hero pushes. Thoughts?

I dont like it, just fold to the buttons raise. Even if he only has two overs the maniac might have the quads (players like that often loves to play monsters slooow) or maybe even a high pair, don't think the risk of a high pair is very high though.

I love it when we come to the conclusion that the maniac has quads.

I added some thoughts to my post while you was answering this one.

i think you probably got your money in drawing dead.

tough spot, i'm not giving anyone credit for quads here.. 99-AA beat you, but i think we can eliminate JJ-AA.

i'm not sure what i do in this spot, i probably call.

no idea what i'm doing on the turn. posting a hand like this is kind of iffy.. there is no standard play for a situation like this (at least none that i'm aware of)

i think you have to play by feel in this hand.

edit - whoops, didnt see that you pushed. i don't like it, but i doubt you're drawing dead.

harsher responses than I thought.

My thoughts. Button would have raised with a high pair especially after 2 limpers. So I thought there was a good chance he had an underpair and raised to protect his small house. Outside chance he limps 99 here though. Maniac, I frankly did not care about. If he had a pair, he'd have raised preflop. I thought he had overs. If he has the case eight, so be it.

Feel free to criticize this thought process . . .

I just do not like to push when it is not clear that I am either way ahead, have a bazillion outs or will probably get a better hand to fold. I don't see any of these characteristics here.
