Proper Agression?

Hi, I mainly play limit so I don't know much about No-limit. I just have a question about optimum agression in NL game. A friend of mine who plays $25 buy-in NL game told me that agression factor should increase as the betting round proceeds. Meaning, river agression factor should be higher than turn, which should be higher than the one of flop. This was opposite from what I was expected, but he continues to say "well, in no limit, you don't wanna be a guy who is calling on turn or river... blah blah blah..." He does play a lot of hands, but doesn't really read 2+2 forum or any other poker site. Any truth to his theory??? thanks in advance.
