Where do I find good felt for an antique poker table?

This is probably the wrong forum, but here goes.

I just acquired an antique "peerless lightweight folding table" Manufactured by the card-room folding table company in Ludington, Michigan, circa 1925. Its in great shape except for the felt and some minor touch up to the black lacquer. I only want to make this repair once and so I am looking for the very best felt I can find. wife suggest using all wool felt and I can find choices for it on the internet.
Is this the best option?

Table has a 43 inch center and is surrounded by 6 inch section
trays, for 8 players.

It really is a beautiful piece of art.

I don't know about wool man....Wouldn't that tend to ball up on you. What about getting some nice suited spped cloth? I have also heard many people who like 21oz billiard cloth (can probably be found at local pool hall). Other than tha. I would suggest eBay if you have an account....they have everything. A local fabric store should also be able to sort you out. Good luck, sounds like a beautiful table.

Most messed up post ever, but I think I got the idea of what you're talking about.

Don't use any kind of felt, it'll ball and the cards don't slide very well on the surface. Billiard cloth is amazing however expensive (there's another topic posted about the exact same time as this one dealing with the same question.)

I'd try to get the billiard stuff or what in the other topic is called velveteen cloth. This topic has been covered a lot so you can probably find other ideas in other posts.

Good luck, post pictures of the finished product.

I would definitely recommend velveteen.

A couple buddies and I build tables on the side, and we use velveteen for our tables. We've sold around 250 tables and everyone loves the surface, and as of yet we've never heard a bad thing back about it.

It is a KILLER surface. Its extremely durable, doesn't pill, is really easy to work with, and has extremely vibrant color that won't fade or wear on you.

We used to just pick it up from a fabric store, but the color selection was limited and it would pill the first couple uses while getting broken in, so we get it online now. Higher quality stuff for cheaper. If you'd like, I can ask my buddy where we get it from online and get back to you.

Re: Where do I find good felt for an antique poker table?

here......a great site that almost everyone uses on a poker table building forum

He has velveteen and suited cloth which is also very nice.
Wool is not a very good idea with the pilling that will occur after 1 use. I used the suited cloth on one of my tables and it is very durable, a little rough but it does not stretch as much as velveteen so all you have to do is staple it on and it shouldn't move around.

I would not use billiard cloth, velveteen, or speed cloth!! It will take away from the antique "feel" of your table.

I would suggest a real casino cloth. It is rather pricey but I would go with some of this stuff. http://www.buypokerchips.com/poker-table-felt-1.htm true casino cloth

Thanks I think this is the right solution. I.e., use
a real casino cloth. The site you gave only sells it in
3 yard lengths which is twice what I need. What do you think
of this site:
