Structure for a .25/.50 home game...

I figured this forum would be better than Home Poker.

We're playing a dealer's choice game next weekend. We'll have Stud, Stud-8, Razz, Chicago...all that stuff on the menu.

If we want the small bet to bet .25 and the big bet .50...what should the antes and bring-in be. (.05 & .10?) Everyone expcept me will be a complete beginner...and I've only been playing for a couple of weeks.

Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

One thing you can do is have a dealer ante. This will make it so you don't have to bother with nickle chips and stuff. you might want to have the dealer ante like .25 or .50.

What would you do for the bring-in in this case?

Will you have a 12.5 cent chip for the small blind in hold em? Ya, just use what ever is the small blind in HE.

Sounds like it is all stud games?

I think .5 ante and .10 bring in is pretty good, it makes it a fairly loosely structured game but I assume you guys are playing for fun and not to just steal each other's antes.

Sorry, I was just quoting the 7-card stud related games for which I'm concerned about having the proper ante/bring-in. We'll also have Texas Hold'em (limit and no-limit), Omaha, Pineapple, Guts, Anaconda, Draw, all that stuff.

In my newbieness I'm not entirely sure what the "not to just steal each other's antes" means. Is a low ante more prone to being stolen (because 'why bother paying a quarter to protect a nickel?')?

I play the .50/1.00 on Party with .25 ante and .25 bring-in, and that seems to be more of a crapshoot than a skill game.

.50/1.00 at PokersStars is .05 ante. You should find this less of a crapshoot.
