Reason #7 why not to be an annoying smacktard
 

Freeroll shootout last week and we had this goofball at the table basically annoying the crap out of everyone. He was a quiet guy, just taking forever to decide on calling or folding preflop, acting out of turn, not paying attention, etc. About an hour in, he goes heads up with the guy sitting in BB. It gets to the river, board shows 3 hearts and an ace. The good-guy checks, smacktard immediately goes all in (he's the chip leader at this point). Other guy starts thinking about it and then the annoying guy says "Here', i'll make it easy on you" shows an Ace of hearts. BB then says "show one, show all" (which this establishment doesn't have this as a house rule). He protests, then someone says "yea... show one, show all, you have to do it" and a couple of others nod in agreement. He angrily shows the other hole card which is an unpaired spade. BB calls with his Ace better kicker.

I thought the "show one show all rule" was you couldn't show one player your hand and not the rest of the table. For example, I have the winning and you fold but flash me the cards as you muck them to show me what you had, but no one else could see the cards. Here the rule show one show all would kick in. Like wise in a casino I was playing at I saw something simliar. Two players left, one player bets all in and the other folds. The winning player flashes one card then mucks the hand towards the dealer. The dealer announces that he has to show that card to everyone and since the dealer can't tell which card it was, he turns them both over.

Yeah this is a misinterpretation of the rule. If the casino doesn't have a rule prohibiting flashing you hand when it's heads-up then you are usually allowed to only show one during the hand as well. Oh well, I probably would've called anyway after he used that cheesy line if I had a strong kicker, unless he had played it like he had the flush draw earlier.

DavidNB is correct, the show-one-show-all rule doesn't apply to the number of cards you show; it applies to the fact that you can't give one player at the table more information than any other player. You can show one card, you just have to show it to everyone.

Well, this was the neighborhood bar "almost for fun" freeroll, winner gets to go onto a big satellite. There was no staff to speak of other than the tourney director calling blind increases. I just thought it amusing this guy put himself in a muddy situation and most at the table backed up the challenger. Notice: I just kept my mouth shut [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

BULLSHIT!!!!! TDA RULES DO NOT SAY ANY SUCH THING

Rule 7: A penalty MAY be invoked if a player exposes any card with action pending, if a card(s) goes off the table, if soft-play occurs, or similar incidents take place. Penalties WILL be invoked in cases of abuse, disruptive behavior, or similar incidents.

Rule 33: Penalties available for use by the TD are verbal warnings, 10, 20, 30, and 40 minutes away from the table and may be used with discretion. These may be utilized up to and including disqualification. A player who is disqualified shall have his chips removed from play.

SO SHOW WHERE THE DEAD HAND COMES IN?
