Vegas Poker Room Advice

Hello All:

I will be in Vegas at a conference from Sunday night until Friday morning. I get in around 9 on Sunday and have Monday all to myself. For the rest of the week, I have to attend the confernce everyday until 5. I am not a high roller by any means and am looking for the best under $100 NL touneys to play in. I know there are a number I can hit on Monday, but I am looking for whet people on this board consider the best tourneys. I am staying at the MGM. Thanks in advance for your advice.

appropos of nothing.....I'm going to Vegas in late October!

Anyways, I plan on playing at the Alladin (or is it now Planet Hollywood?). From the reviews on the site that the other poster posted, the poker room seems sufficiently soft in terms of competition.

They started the remodeling this week for the changeover to Planet Hollywood.

Most every game in there will have 8 calling stations and 1 person who doesn't ever see a flop. My advice, raise any hand preflop in limit that you are going to play. You'll get paid off HUGE with your big hands but only lose 1 more bet when you don't hit. Don't be a calling station!

I was at Aladdin poker room in Sept. The tournament structure sucked. It was one of the fasted I have ever seen. I didn't play cash games, so I can't comment on that. They had a couple 1-2 NL tables going early in the week, and maybe one 3-6 or 4-8 holdem.

I always recommend The Orleans for the best low limit tourneys. They usually get 100+ players and the structure is not super fast. Link. $5 cab ride from South strip, or free shuttle from Barbary or Gold Coast.

I have heard the Monday night tournament at the Orleans is pretty juicey.

If you're staying at the MGM, play in the $65 buy-in 11am daily. Good tournament, usually gets about 100 people for a $5K prize pool paid to the top 6. Definitely beatable if you're patient.

Plus, the card room is well appointed, and they bring good booze fast if you tip even marginally well. Good dealers, too.
