Interesting battle
 

Folded to me on button, I raise with 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB calls. He likes to donk with draws and weak made hands and overall likes to fight back. He's 48/8/2.17 so far, so too aggressive for sure. Anyways, the preflop raise is debatable. BB was tight at least.

The flop comes 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

He bets, I raise, he calls

The turn is 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

He bets, I call

The river is 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

He bets, I fold

What do we think?

i call this river getting 7.5-1 and i don't think it's close. yes a heart is likely, but that's all that's beating you (the 4-straight is out there but not likely to connect with his hand). given your description of him, he could easily be donking the turn with any pair and continue on the river.

and i raise preflop here everytime regardless of who the blinds are

Why did he donk the turn?

1/ He has a pair and doesn't want to give me a free card
2/ He has a [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] or straight draw and wants me to fold
3/ He made a straight or flush and value bets
4/ He doesn't have a piece of the board and just thinks he has folding equity - rather unlikely given I raised his flop donkbet

On the river, I only win if 1 or 4 was true. But for 1 wouldn't he check-call it fearing I have a big [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ?

edit: against this guy, i call even a non-8 heart. He sucks and he could have nothing.
