JJ in BB with UG raise

Need some analysis on this. Sat down at the table (1/2 limit). The table is 5 max. My read on Villain is that he is fairly tight and straight forward. Ok, here it is.

Hero is BB with J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

UG raises, CO folds, Button folds, SB calls, Hero raises, UG caps, Hero calls.

Flop: (12 SBs) 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Hero opens, Villain raises, SB folds, Hero Calls

Turn (8 BBs) 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Hero Checks, Villain bets, Hero Calls

River (10 BBs) 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Hero Checks, Villain Bets, Hero Calls

I had only played a few hands on this table. Is this too conservative? I put him on an overpair, but so early in the session I wasnt sure if I should takes the guns out of the cabnet. Help me out w/ this one guys.

I usually play this too agg. but I would 3-bet the flop. If capped, I would check-call the rest.

But I think your line is good. If he is tight, he will cap pf with TT-AA and AK, AQs. I don't think he would raise the flop AK or AQ (unless he has FD also), so you are likely to be behind.

He's a straightforward player who capped PF and raised a raggy flop bet. I think anything else but Hero's line is over doing it.

Yes that is what I said. I am too agg. and hero's play was goood. My own play needs adjusting....

Well, I may have been able to pinpoint his hand more w/ a 3 bet on the flop. I'm thinking if he called 3 bet he has overcards and if he caps then he's probably in the range of TT-AA.

Well, this was my first thinking but what if he is so clever that he know that we are thinking this way and he will cap with overs to add deception?

I might use this kind of thinking so why not he as well?

Well... you have a good point there, but I dont think that its quite as common at a 1/2 table as it would be at the higher limits. Remember I said his play was pretty straight forward. At this point I havent seen any deceptive play from him.

I don't think a flop 3-bet will tell you much. He might cap with overs, checking behind on the turn. He might call the flop and raise the turn w/KK,AA. If he has overs, he might keep betting if you check to him on the turn. If you lead the turn, he might fold overs getting you nothing more, and he will prob. raise w/a better PP. The call down after the flop raise is the only way to go IMO.

If villian will raise with overs on the flop, what's the best river play if he checks behind on turn? It seems weak to c/f an A or K river, but that might be best. What if the river is a blank? Check and call, or lead hoping he calls with A-high?

Sorry for the minor hijack.
