flop QJ9 two hearts
sb bets 18, villain calls, utg calls, lp folds, hero calls (with Qh).

turn 3s.
sb checks, villain checks, utg checks, hero bets 120, sb folds, villain calls, utg folds.

river 9c.
villain bets 300, hero calls.

I like the river call. I'm looking for a big missed draw, which card on the flop isn't the heart? I could easily see J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] here, but I'm definately expecting the T.

I too like raising the flop, like to 120. Make em pay. If you gte a call, you can bet turn if its the donk villan or take a card off if you want against another player. It just gives you more options. As played, I call, but even if villan had something like 9T, he didnt play it that poorly, becuase he got the odds on every street to draw to his Nine outs, especially if you include the 300 that you pay off on the river. I expect to see something like AT or even a random hand like T4 often enough that you cant fold.

Re: 3/6 the riverdance

my reasoning for not raising the flop were as follows,

i didn't want to bloat the pot with a somewhat mediocre hand, with many scare cards on the turn to bluff me out

i had a chance to draw to my gutshot for cheap

and if a blank hit on the turn, i can reanalyze the situation by examining the action afterwards

9T is good.
looks like a fold on the river.

raise preflop, fold to the sb raise preflop.

I hate to raise here with a UTG limper without any decent reads. I realize its rare for someone to limp a monster UTG with someone posting OOP, but I still try to avoid raising such a marginal hand with early position limpers.

raise preflop to how much in this case? i don't really like raising with KQo with 3 limpers...or perhaps this is more the reason why i should be raising in this spot? this may be a leak of mine...can you elaborate on why a raise is merited here and to how much?

then you say to fold to the sb raise; i'm assuming that it's because KQ will probably be a dominated hand. but getting over 6-1...it's hard to fold here no?

you don't see a missed draw here at all more often than a 9T?
