Correct to go for Overcalls on River?

Was I correct to go for overcalls on the river?
Was I wrong to go into call/redraw mode on the turn, assuming that at least one of my callers had probably hit a straight?

Raise the turn. I raise the river since all it takes is an overcall of the raise and the original bettor to call and we get the same amount of bets in (unless someone raises behind us but they'll probably 3 bet our raise anyway). We also allow a flush or 8 to go to war with us and potentially get alot more than 3 bets in.

Edit: There's also no guarantee all 3 are going to overcall for a single bet, I was assuming that for some reason.

I raise the turn with a set and the 3rd [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] hasn't hit yet.

What a gift on the end. Perfect. MP3 obviously hit his flush. With both UTG's having given up, I think you were right to go for overcalls.

If you raise, unless the others are total donks, I think you'll knock the other guys out and get a crying call from MP3. 1 BB. By just calling, you ended up getting 3BB.

I think you played the river well.

Everyone already told you about the missed turn raise.

I think I'm raising the river here. By calling, you pick up 3 overcalls at best. By raising, you allow a flush or trips to come at you again and you'll win more than 3 bets. I think it's the perfect go to war card.

The river was a very sweet card for you. A turn raise, which I think you should have done, changes the river dynamic, perhaps to the point where you get reraised or better yet check raised when this sweet river hits.

This was (probably) a very nice pot but I think you left some money on the table all the same.

I'm raising this turn, and raising the river.

I'm guessing the river raise (assuming you didn't raise the turn) would result in one of the other 3 opponents cold calling your raise, MP3 3betting, you cap, and the cold caller might well call the final 2 bets as well. If you got lucky, more than 1 of them might end up calling some of those raises.

8 players to the flop, calling and cold calling raises all the way through the hand, I don't think they're gonna stop playing poorly at the end.
