Easy fold right?

Live 1-2 NL,

Hero on button (5,5), 4 limpers. Villian in BB, I haven't been at table very long so I only know he's tight.

Flop 8,8,A r

Checked round

Turn 5

BB bets 15 everyone folds, Hero Calls

River A

BB bets 25, Hero Folds

I flip over my cards to show the river screwed me, villian doesn't show. Happy with my fold until the table is all confused as to how I could fold a full house for $25, maybe they knew something about him I didn't.

Straight forward right?

Based on how you played it, folding was correct. You should have raised/pushed the turn, then you could have avoided this situation.

If you push the turn and he has an A or 8, he's still going to call. Push here so that you know on the turn for sure what the situation is. Given that board, there's little way that your hand improves on the river and several things that might not hurt you but will make you continue to question.

Easy fold here. As full of 8s or 8s full of As.

Bet the flop and raise the turn.

You have to raise the turn. Get your money in the middle when you are a favorite to win the hand. You were a big favorite against a lone A or 8 on the turn.

I'd usually bet the pot with a flop like that in position but 4 limpers plus the big blind is too many people.

Raising the turn seems like I'd be leaving money on the table considering I'm so far ahead.

I thought about a river re-raise to 70 or so, to represent the ace since it seems like he has an 8 by his action, anyone like this?

This doesn't really matter, however, unless you feel you can get more out of him on the river if he doesn't improve. I think you have a better chance, if villain decides to play, to make money here on the turn than on a river blank.

Seen from the villain's perspective, if the river blanks after you smooth call the turn, you probably have a fairly strong hand/slowplayed hand. Given this, I think villain will be reluctant to pay off big on the river.

And, even if raising the turn gets you the same $ amount from villain as a river blank, raising the turn charges him to catch up if he wants to play.

Fast-playing is the new slow-playing.
