AOpen 90.05210.418 Geforce MX4000 128MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card

I'm planning to use the DVI for a 2001FP, and connect my old monitor up to the d-sub. I don't do any heavy gaming, so my needs are pretty simple. $29 just seems cheap so I wanted to see if there's some glaring flaw I'm missing.

Other than needing to buy a DVI cable I don't see a real problem with this. Though something tells me running a $500 monitor with a $30 vid card is simply wrong. In terms of processing graphics the card is a P.O.S., but it's not as though poker tables are very graphics intensive. That being said I'd still spend a little more dime on a decent card, say ~$100? Check out the GeForce FX5200 or GeForce FX5500.

Then what should he do with the one supplied in the 2001FP box?

I would get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814140056 instead for $8 extra.

Lol, that's heresey. Might as well put a V4 in your Lamborgini.

And the Troll is right, it comes with a DVI cable, which from Dell suprises me. Good eye Troll.

Thank you all for the feedback!

I just need poker and office functionality, so looks like the cheaper one will be adequate. Thanks!

My god, the 5200 owns that MX4000 5 ways of Sunday. Don't be cheap and spring the extra $6.

Re: another \"is this video card good enough\"

I just bought a Dell 2005FPW (wide screen flat panel) and hooked it up to my old computer
(which is 3 years old - but it was the best you could buy at the time).
Is my graphics card adequate? I have a 128 MB "NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600"...
I can't get the max resolution of my monitor with this setup...Is the card the problem or do I need to download any updates, new video drivers, etc.?

To Rehash:
The monitor is brand new - latest and greatest, but the Dell computer I have is an 8200 purchased in Aug. of 2002...

And I did get the DVI and the blue connector to connect to my computer - which one is
better to use?
