Over-Tricky SDM
 

I make the raise on 5th to push out a possible better straight. I know seat 3 probably has trip 7's and is going for a boat, but it's unlikely he's got another Q buried, and my straight with an option to a flush will hold up if he doesn't improve.

This may be flawed logic though, maybe as soon as anyone pairs their door card you should fold a made straight ... I don't know, rate my play please.

How is this tricky? It’s a simple value raise. A better straight isn’t folding on 5th, but he won’t have it very often.

As for 6th street, I sometimes lay down here, but that just depends on the opponent. Sometimes you have to just lose a hand.

Cheers Roland, I thought it was overticky to try to force a larger straight out if I have a wheel. (I remember the situation of Marcel Luske v Nick Frangos in the 2004 Stud event where Frangos had a wheel but Marcel had a larger straight)

You aren’t trying to force out a higher straight. Why would a higher straight fold here? With 3 diamonds on board, the situation would be different, but here, no.
You are raising for value, pure and simple.

Agreed, folding this hand would be a pretty big mistake I think, especially with your diamond draw...I think you are much more likely to be up against a flush or trips the a boat. Sometimes you have to payoff.

Huh? How can this be a flush? And why would he just call on 5th but then suddenly 3-bet on 6th with just trip 7s?
This is 8s full or 7s full way over 90% of the time imo.

And I’ll make as many tough folds as I see fit, thanks. I have no problem with SDM paying off here, though.
