Voting Reform

You may have seen the stories about the commission that Jimmy Carter was on about improving the voting system around the country.

One proposal that Carter endorsed was the requirement of photo IDs to prevent voter fraud. Usually, many Democrats are opposed to this as discriminatory against the lower classes.

Is requiring photo IDs a good positive step in your opinion?

Should we have "purple fingers" to ensure people don't vote twice?

What other ideas do you think would improve the voting system nationwide?

Re: Voting Reform

I think voter reform is needed immediately.

I like the idea of national registration / voting record.

The idea goes kind of like this (modeled after U.S. Army systems already in place):

Instead of filling out a registration card when you vote, you register at a "live-Scan" area where they take your finger print.

When voting time comes around, you go to any ATM like machine anywhere in the U.S.... scan your finger and vote.

I think it's a good idea... but it will never happen (enter stage left the ACLU).

Never happen, it would be too much trouble for all the Democrats in Chicago to dig up and drag all those dead people to the polls two or three times

Not to mention that those stalwart Ohio Democrats, Mary Poppins and Mickey Mouse, probably couldnt be bothered to go get their fingerprints put on file.
