fold AQ with a short stack?

47 players left. 40 places pay. Blinds 400/800. I have 4700 chips, in MP with AQo.

UTG is the largetst stack at the table, with about 18,000. She opens for 2,500. She has been playing very tight. I have been at the table for 4 rounds, and this is only the second time she has raised. I can't see her doing this with AJ.

Can I fold it?

Can she do this with 99-JJ? I think I push but I'm stubborn

Easy push simply because you have an M of four. Here you will be coinflipping a -lot- of the time, and the rest of the time you will be dominated, but with an M of 4 you don't really have a choice here and can't afford to pass up on this spot.

Why do some people always have to be smart asses?

I did a search for M, and every post that had a word with the letter m in it came up.

I will read HOH2, after I finish reading King Yao's book. In the meantime, am I really putting you through that much trouble when I ask for an explanation of what M is?

Gotta push with a short stack. She knows as the chip leader at the table and payout places closing in she will get people to fold. Tight or not you've got to push. With blinds where they are you're not going to get a better spot. If your happy with 35th to 40th then maybe but I'm never happy with that. PUSH

1st...decide what your playing for. If your playing for 40th place and u just want to make the money fold it and wait and try and sneak in. If your playing to win. You push. you need to get back in this thing, it's late, and your probably not gonna get many more opportunities than AQ with a raise out in front and money in the pot already.

Re: fold AQ with a short stack?

Your M is the number of rounds that you can surive at the current blind/ante level. So, if blinds are 300/600 and you have 4800 in your stack, your M is just over 5 (300+600= 900 per round, 4800/900= ~5. Basically, M tells you how much longer you could afford to wait to catch some cards. As your M gets lower, you have to start making more aggressive plays with cards that, though not ideal, figure to be the best you're going to catch before you get blinded into oblivion.
