PLO8 turn strategy

I finally got PTO and was looking back through my worst losing hands last night... the most catastrophic of the bunch. With only a couple of exceptions, I started out a decent or big favorite on the flop. Then, on about half of them the turn was good but the river was unlucky (1/5 chances hitting). The other half brought a bad turn card that I didn't recognize as a bad turn card. In general, my flop play is reasonable, but I get into trouble on the turn when a bad card falls and I don't recognize it.

Any tips on that part of the game? What do you see in a turn card that allows you to recognize it as *bad*?

The turn is the most important street in PLO/8. In general, on the turn you should be willing to either shove your entire stack into the pot or fold. The PLO/8 article on winningonlinepoker.com has a pretty good discussion on proper strategy on the turn.

That’s a hard question to answer – basically it is experience that allows you to recognize it as bad. Some sub-questions that might help you are:

“what hands does my opponent most likely have to be able to have gotten to the turn?”

“how likely is my opponent to fold here?”

“what river cards are likely to make my hand a scooper or more than 1-way?”
