Sudoku - exercise for poker players?

if-then-else

Do (can) logic-based puzzles improve your poker skills? Are there others?

If it makes you feel any better I do crossword puzzles while playing.

On the flip side. My golf game has improved drastically this season because of poker. After a bad shot I used to get pissed but now I let it go, I am the zen master of all my surroundings

I would guess that puzzles like Sudoku probably do have some value for poker players. It probably explains why they appeal to people like us in the first place. Logic and reason are at the heart of good poker, at least that's how I see it, and these types of puzzles seem to stimulate the same places in the brain that poker does. Even if they have absolutely no value in developing logic, they're pretty addicting. I often play them online when I'm just burned out on cards but not ready to turn on the TV.

My thoughts exactly, but you expressed them better... I tend to view the empty boxes as my "oppponent" and use logic to put him on a range of hands down to a specific number in order to solve the puzzle.

It's true, all the really smart people are in Southern Arizona

I got bored after my 10th sudoko. And it probably helps your poker a small bit. Playing poker helps a tonne more.
