Representing a bluff with an overbet.

Villain in this hand is 36/4/0

I've been playing very aggressively both pre and post-flop, and I'm positive that Villain has noticed. The plan here was to check the turn/river unimproved.

PP NL 25 6-max

Hero is Button ($53) with KT [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Villain is SB ($22)

Preflop:
folds to Hero, Hero raises to $1, SB calls .90, BB folds

Flop ($2.25):
6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
SB checks, Hero bets $1.75, SB calls $1.75

Turn ($6) : T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
SB checks, Hero bets $8

I thought that betting any less would look like a value bet. I'm putting SB on a pair bigger than a 6 at this point.

Who likes/dislikes, and what are other alternatives.

well even if he thinks ur bluffing what can he call with, maybe 2 pair with ace kick??? or the lower full house? or some sort of pocket pair?
u might as well let them see a free card.. if he has nothing your "bluff" isnt gonna get paid off anyways..

I dont play much 6-max but IMHO i like the overbet. I am less creative and would have probably just bet the pot, but I think your play is +EV.

I'm not sure how one gets a postflop aggression of 0, but I bet it doesn't involve much calling flop bets out-of-position trying to take the pot away on a later street.

He's calling the flop for value. If he had any aggression whatsever I'd definitely be more inclined just to bet pot on the turn, because there he might be more likely to think he can take the pot away from you with a check-raise. Here you're basically just hoping he gets stubborn, which he may well do. (If he's noticed you LAGging it up, my guess would be that a player with these numbers has picked a hand and decided to stick with it. Just hope the board doesn't scare him off.) I guess the slight overbet's as good a way to push him that direction as any.

If he folded, I don't think you were getting much out of him with a smaller bet.

edit - I probably bet the pot rather than overbet here though. Over how many hands was he 0 aggression? It's just not possible to keep that going forever.

If this is how you were playing every hand up until now, this bluff will work fine. However, you may want to save the bluffs for when you dont have top full house. A slow check on the turn may induce a bluff by him on the river, and the free card wont hurt you. But, this may not be the most profitable play. Assuming you have him killed at this point, you may want to sucker bet the turn so he has 2 ways to play back at you. Once when you make the sucker bet, and again on the river.

This guy doesn't play back... postflop aggression of 0.

in other words
his # of bets & raises / # of calls = 0

WEAKER PLAYER!!!

I'm not sure how one gets a postflop aggression of 0..

[/ QUOTE ] You get it by never calling or never betting/raising. I often have 0 at a table for quite some time because I still haven't called postflop. Be wary of the 0's, since they are either super passive or super aggressive.
