Legality of barber shop

Want to know if you have a barber shop if it has to be licensed. I see many barber shops in more urban areas with no license. Is that just escaping the eyes of the law or is a license not need for simple barber type haircuts?
Thanks in advance

licensing requirements probably depend on your state/county.

It depends on whether or not it offers a "happy ending"

OK so lets say New Jersey any thoughts? Perhaps what is the code in your state. Im am interested in perhaps opening one. Essentailly it is like renting as barbers pay you a weekly amount to use the space (ie chair and mirror you provide)

In the town I grew up in, there was a big controversy over a couple women who were giving out free haircuts to homeless people and they got shut down because they didn't have a license.

Wow. You need a license to give haircuts??

Would anyone know how much said license costs?

What a freakin' scam. Theft, for God's sake. Why would you need a license to give a haircut?

On a related note, who here thinks a topless barer shop would be profitable?

That is, the barers are hot topless chicks

that has been tried in Minneapolis a couple of years back. The business did not succeed.

Here is Scandinavia a barber must have a license. It has to be placed in plain sight to all customers. Dunno if it means much since barber school is pay the fee/pass or go away.
