Alright...this is going to seem really weak/tight but this is exactly why I stay away from hands like this.

I don't want to be in a position to get the card I'm looking for, have a pot sized bet come back at me, and still not know whether or not I'm WAY behind.

But....since you're obviously a new player...with only 112 posts...stranger [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] (obligatory gay smiley)...I'd say find a reason to fold somewhere during that hand.

certainly neither had a FH before the river. And my probe-bet on the flop suggests either a weak deuce in both hands or a couple chasers. Until the MP guy raised, I had been planning to raise EP's obvious trips.

The only hand I can put MP on that beats me is 98.

So should I call?

I don't know Winter, I just don't like it. I know what you're saying, but it just doesn't feel right.

Those river cards have done me in more often than not when I chase after a bet.

I would like it better if you were the one doing the betting instead of the calling I suppose.

You need to fold, unless jmborden is totally irrational. Is he going to raise with trips on a 3-to-flush board? It would be a bit more likely he'd raise with a smaller flush, but that would still be rather bad. Besides that, your pot odds kind of suck and there's someone to act behind you. Take your $8 loss like a man.

This was my exact thinking. But since the board paired the 9 on the river, a naked 9 might do something this stupid.

I didn't considered this possibility at the time--in the world of the thinking, raising w/ a non-nut flush into two players on the river with two pair on the board is about as idiotic as you can get.

That's the conclusion I came to (except that I had zero worry about the player left to act behind me, I just figured MP had to have me beat), and so I folded.

EP called, and MP took the pot down with Q-high flush (no other draws, BTW) to EP's trip deuces.

I just posted to see if anyone could make that call there. I think when you read the HH it looks like that raise is pretty much impossible to call... but in the moment I came real close to calling because when that river card came over I felt sure that my hand was good. Whatever, these idiots are just as capable of misplaying a boat as they are thinking trips or a sh!tbag flush is good there. The fold has to be correct.
