J9s vs. a preflop 3-bet
 

The river is what I'm wondering about. (Of course, other comments are appreciated also; I'd imagine, for instance, that preflop is debatable.)

Villain is 33/17/2.8 after 110 hands, and it's not such a great table, generally. During our most recent encounter, Villain and I capped it preflop. He had AK; I 3-bet from the blinds with AQ. The flop came KQX, and I called him down.

I don't raise that UTG. I raise JTs UTG at tight or passive tables. I'd rather 3-bet an UTG raise on the button with it than raise UTG. maybe that's dumb

also I'd wait for the turn to checkraise. if he checks through, no big deal, he has 4 outs. as it stands now you get 3-bet a lot and he'll take a free river or showdown. checkraise the turn and he'll rarely 3-bet you without a set

I pay off the river. the fact that you checkraised the flop could lead to a desperation bluff

J9s was the first hand I was ever dealt in a B&amp;M (I folded it then but wouldn't now in the same situation), so there's that sentimental angle.

Also, though, the table seemed kind of on the tight side. And I would open-raise JTs UTG, generally, at a 6-max table, and J9s can't be that different.

I'm not claiming the raise was necessarily best, though.

See, this (what I put in bold) is what I'm not used to at all.

I'm having a lot of fun at 3/6 6-max, though. I thought I was going to mix 3/6 6-max and 5/10 full. But what's happening instead is that I'm playing 6-max exclusively.

Possibly that'll change (I've been busy this week and haven't been able to play much at all, really), but I am learning that 6-max can be a lot of fun.

No you both got this totally and utterly wrong.

JTs of diamonds is the true monster hand.

On my first ever poker deposit I was down to my last $20 or so. I was going to give up poker for good when it was all gone. However, I got dealt JT of diamonds and flopped the monster draw, took down a massive pot and never looked back [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
