$9000 Guaranteed Final Table Hand

Relavent Stacks:
Hero: CO ~$150,000
SB: Villian. Chip Leader: $540,000
BB: Short Stack $12000

Villian Seems pretty solid. He won most of his chips with a lucky triple up all in with AA before the flop.

7 handed. Blinds $8,000/$16000. Ante: $800
Dealt to Hero A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Pot PF: $25600

3 folds to hero. Hero Raises to $40,000 Button Folds. Villian Calls $40,000. BB is all in for $12,000.

Flop (Main Pot: $36,000. Side Pot: $56,000): J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Villian Checks. Hero... ?

Who just folds this PF?

I'd throw out a 30k bet on the flop hoping to take the sidepot.

Anybody prefer a call PF? If so, why?

My thought process at the time was that it was a good way to take a cheap shot at the BB. SB hadn't been playing too many hands recently, and thought he'd let me take a shot by myself.

How much should the all in BB affect my decision to play this hand?

How might it affect SB's actions?

Don't you think that 30K looks pretty weak? Unfortunately, much more than this cripples me.

I suppose it does have that whole "weak means strong" thing going for it, though.

Nope. With position you've got to take control of this hand. Don't hand the power to SB.

You've got a decent hand against the blinds anyway. The forced-all-in, especially folded to you in the CO, makes it irresistable.

He'll either get to see a cheap flop to try and take out BB, or he may well come in with a raise of his own to try and isolate BB himself. I don't see a fold in that situation. If you call you hand the ball off to SB. Since you read him as solid, you won't get much information if he fires at the flop. This leaves you re-raising preflop. Not only does that leave you vulnerable to a push, it pretty much commits you to the pot and if he hits the flop well he's got you by the short and curlies.

As it played out I'd fire around 24K in there on the flop and fold to a check-raise... Villain has the stack to feel comfortable calling just about anything but an all-in and you really don't want to push. A small bet should be enough to flush out a check-raise while representing an AJ screaming "Please call!" Either way it'll still leave you enough for 3 more orbits.

how many are left (I assume its not 3 handed)? What are the other stacks like? Will you be the new shorty? Whats the payout structure?

7 Players are left. Everybody is in the money.

I'm about middle of the pack. SB has about a 3:2 chip lead on second place. Other stacks are between $50,000-$350,000.

If I check fold this, I'll have about $110,000 left, and will be in the bottom $25%, but there are still 2 stacks under me (3 if BB survives).

This is probably not quite right, but it's my best guess off the top of my head.

1st: $2500
2nd: $1500
3rd: $1000
4th: $750
5th: $500
6th: $350
7th: $250

How much does the payout schedule here affect my play if I'm trying to maximize my EV?

How much does it affect my play if I'm trying to win the tourney?
