Pick-Me-Ups after downswings (words, not drugs/booze)
 

Hi,

This year ive won about $12,000. I play the $200NL short handed sit downs. In the past 4 days ive had a terrible run, lost $1,000, my worst ever run, half of which was tonight. Now im not complaining about this, i know we've all had bad runs, but what id like to hear is what phrases people tell themselves to help try to feel better inside, and not spend the rest of their time pissed off and upset.

I'll start it off with one from a pro;

'your only losing your winnings'

this thread really will help me, and hopefully others, so replies would be great.

Here's one "I lost $1,000 last night playing 4-8, and that wasn't losing my winnings." So hey you don't suck as bad as me hehehe... Feel better?

What I would say is while 5 buyins isn't a great result its not unprecedented and 10/15 buy in downswings can happen to good players.

If it affecting your play take a break. If not, all you can do is put in the hours untill normal service resumes.

If I were you, I'd go with: "Sweet! I've won $11,000 this year!"

Don't lose focus of the picture. You're having a great year. This is just a speed bump.
