what is a gigantic downswing in NL?

The most statistically deviant downswing in limit I hear talked about on these boards is around 300BB, so what's the equivalent (in buy-ins) for NL? 5? 8? 23?

And now that you mention it, huh, I guess I'm not running particularly well at the moment. I hardly noticed...

Re: what is a gigantic downswing in NL?

I have dumped 27 buyins in three days at $100NL deliberately playing like a tard, without a single 2 buy in upswing.

Playing normally, even with bad sessions or tilty play, my largest downswing ever at $100NL is 4 buy ins. This is from over 30K hands (since the downswing).

4 buyins over 30K hands? Am I reading this right?

Yep. Since that tilt session I keep a tight control on my game . It's pretty hard to lose 4 consecutive buyins when you play properly unless you take marginal situations like pushing flush + overs on the flop or calling all ins when you're not sure where you stand.

edit: If you want some numbers, if you take two 80/20 all ins, you've only got a 4% of losing twice. Most flop all ins are 90/10, some 75/25. For the rest I steal enough pots to stay even regardless of cards.

Oh, so the total downside for your downswing wasn't 4 buyins. You're saying the most you have lost consecutively is 4 racks?

I think it is something like 10-15 buy-ins, my worst in about 120 k hands is 8 buy-in, my second worst is 5 buy-in.
Thats why 20 buy-in is considered as a normal bankroll.

No, I'm saying the largest dip in my graph thingy is 4 buyins before it rises above the point it started dipping.

lol...does that makes sense?

So yeah, my largest downswing is 4 buyins

I've asked around about this question too and from alot of the experienced successful NL players they say the most they've EVER dropped was 5-6. I dropped 5 the other day playing very less than optimally.
