A stop and go hand to flame

Somewhat late in Stars $10 + $1 rebuy. My thinking was that the big stack who called probably had an Ace, and that the pot was big enough that anything that increased my chances of winning the pot was a good thing. I still would have pushed if an Ace hit on the flop. I was going to push no matter what.

And I hate this because?

Edit: above wasnt very helpful. Basically you're getting your loot in no matter what here, so the only issue is how...Highly unlikely BS will go away preflop, so why not let him see a flop and fold...in essence, he is seeing 3 cards instead of 5 this way...IOW, this is LESS risky, with potentially less profit.

I like it...uh... flame away?

i'll tell you when you should never use a stop and go. when there's a dry sidepot and you have a monster vs a large-stacked villian that is pot-committed enough to call your all-in preflop but will throw away the same hand 1/2 the time on the flop when you push.

don't do it again.

Terrible time to stop and go, you have a monster, your pot equity is so high, you don't want to increase your fold equity.

I second the other poster. What do you think is wrong with your play? You can argue which is safer or riskier -- they both have their positives and negatives. If you push preflop you probably get Ax to fold, but you bring along medium pairs (and maybe low pairs) and broadway cards. If you stop and go, you allow him to hit his hand if he has Ax, connectors, suited cards or or anything that will make two pair or a set. For me, I rather push and get medium pairs to call with terrible odds and lesson the chance of Ax hitting or having him flop two pair, a straight or flush.

Perhaps this is what happened to you. The guy hit a flush draw and was compelled to call and then caught his flush. Am I right?

Nah, he called the flop bet with 22 and I won the hand.
