10 handed Borgata game.

2 terrible limpers, one thinking player limps in MP immediately behind, I raise Ah Qh in the hijack, thinking but tilting button calls, SB folds, terrible BB calls, limpers call. 6 players, 12.5 SBs.

Flop is 8s 5h 3c. BB and donks check, thinking MP bets, what's my action and is it close?

I would call. He is a big favorite to have a pair as compared to a draw here imo, so I would like to see cards as cheap as possible.

I'd just call too. If there is a good chance MP will fold something like a pocket pair on the turn a good deal of the time I'd raise, but I don't think we should assume that.

Raise?

I think with the backdoor draw, you're getting enough to call, but a raise will likely fold other hands that pose a threat, buy you an out or get you a free card.

What if your raise knocks out a few opponents and an overcard comes. I think you would be able to take a free card frequently enough.

Or if you spike an A or Q?

I realize my suggestion was different than the others, I'm just trying to look at this from different points of view.

With the overcards and backdoor draw, I would call. Raising would seem to be foolish, since neither the tilting button nor the bad limpers are going to fold to the raise if any of them has you reverse dominated.

Reasons For Calling:
::: Reverse dominated hands (A8, Q8, A5, Q5, A3, Q3) will call two anyways (stated by previous poster)
::: We have two backdoor draws (only one is the nuts, but the other would be a 'likely' nuts).
::: If we hit a queem or ace we will likely have the best hand.

Reasons for raising
::: Not letting 76o, and Gutshot wheel draws draw profitably.
::: Not letting KJs (spades or clubs) take one off cheaply.
::: Try to get absolute position for the rest of the hand (force the thinking/tilting button to fold)
::: Gain more information on the remaining players holdings.
::: Take a free turn if we pickup a draw.
::: Thin the field and try to make reverse dominated hands to fold.

I would raise here. the thinking player who has be into us can really only be betting here with a pair or 76o. Most of the time I expect it to be a PP TT-66. If we can fold the button and maybe get A5 or A3 to fold here then we're in better shape. If we call the folp we have to pick up our draw or hit our card or else we have to fold. Raising gives us the opportunity to take a free card on a draw where we really need it.
