Weird cultural superstitions.
I learned at lunch today from my Indian friend (slurpee Indian, not casino Indian) that according to Indian tradition, if you pass salt hand-to-hand to one another, it means you'll get in a fight with that person.
So you have to put the salt down, then the other guy picks it up. What other bizarre superstitions are there for various cultures? |

sounds like Indian's are [censored] retarted. [/ QUOTE ] It's about as retarded as holding your breath as you pass a cemetary, thinking you'll get bad luck if you walk under a ladder, break a mirror, or a black cat crosses your path, thinking a horseshoe or rabbit's foot will give you good luck, thinking that stepping on a spider will bring rain, throwing salt over your shoulder when you spill it, etc...etc... |

You must have missed the Iraqi female circumcission thread... [/ QUOTE ] I think it got removed for some strange reason. And female circumcision is a cherish cultural tradition, not a silly superstition. A related superstition is the belief that wearing a necklace made of circumcised clitorises will bring good luck, however. |

Re: Weird cultural superstitions.
The father of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (kind of like their George Washington) is supposed to have said on his deathbed that he would be reincarnated as a cat, and would bite the heel of his chosen successor. So most Turks would actually like to be bitten on the heel by a stray cat.
