The Orleans

I am going out to Vegas in a little while and am thinking about staying at the Orleans. I would appreciate any information about the hotel and the cardroom. Thanks.

Positives: The rooms are quite OK and definetly worth the price. You should be able to get a poker rate after playing some hours there. You donīt have to play 8 hrs a day as in other casinos. Furthermore they have the most beautyful coctrail waitresses in Vegas. Just my opinion of course.

Negatives: Itīs a bit off the strip. You either need a car or take a shuttle. If itīs your first time in LV I would rather recommend to stay in the Strip. The atmosphere in a strip hotel is sure something extraordinary.

About the pokerroom: Great tourneys twice a day. Especially the monday night NLHE tourney is the best in Vegas IMHO. Cash games are spread 4/8 both HE and O8, 6/12 HE, 1-5 stud and sometimes 10/20 HE. Players are mostly regulars, but not at all too good. Pretty friendly game. They do have a Jackpot which was pretty high the last time I was there (over 60k at holdīem last November. This was a bit of extreme, since itīs usually only about 30k high though)

One more thing to consider: At the Orleans you wonīt find too many young people. Lots of retireds.

Enjoy your trip

Re: The Orleans

I just stayed there this past weekend. The poker rate was $45 on weekdays and $75 on weekends. The day I arrived I asked at the poker desk. They told me to ask when I left the pokerroom that night so after my tourney and 1 hour of live play I went back and got the poker rate. There were no strings attached to the rate.

As far as the room, you can read my tourney report and my views on vegas. In general I love the room for tournies but don't like the live play. When I played on Sunday morning there was discussion that the Jackpot was hit on Saturday.

There is a shuttle to the strip (across from Bellagio). From there you get can walk or take some of the trams depending where you want to go.

Re: The Orleans

Thanks for the info. It is very helpful. One other question, how many tables are in the card room and are there games going 24-7?

Also it is actually my parents taking this trip and they asked my oppinion and since I have been to Vegas but never at the Orleans I did not know what to say. So I am sure they will not mind the older crowd

Thanks.

Re: The Orleans

I guess there are some 25+ tables. Action is going 24/7, in the early morning they usually have 2 tables going, both 4/8 HE and 4/8 O8.
