Easily the most painful thing in online Holdem
 

I sit down at a partypoker table 3 handed. There is this guy who is playing and plays any 2 cards and raises. He is your typical maniac, who does not know how to fold - but does know how to raise.

I see him in 25BB pots calling with 10 high. [img]/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]
I proceed to bust out my buyin by losing every hand to him (not a penny lost to the other player). Not only that, but atleast 4 of the pots were on the river. Something like 3To catching a T on the river after capping the flop and turn agaisnt my 99.

I beieve I understand the game of variance and the role it plays but what pains me is to see my supposed-to-be-friend blowing my money to other TAGs who jumped to the table after seeing the pot size. It just pains me to see this chump blow all of my money.

This is easily the most painful thing in online holdem.

Always nice to see an ATM at the table.
Problems start when you are the only one to lose to him.

He is taking your money and then sharing it out with others.

We all feel your pain.

That's why I try to play more hands. Maybe after another 30k or 40k I'll be back near expectation again.

He may have been playing optimum shorthanded poker and rode a wave of good luck.

You cant play the same way three handed as you do at a full ring game. I have heard it suggested from good players that at a two to three person game against weak players you should raise any two cards preflop.

That is some bad luck though.

99 vs T5 is a little extreme though. Guess I have had worse beats.
