Are you a poker liberal or a poker conservative?

Poker Liberal - You take underbankrolled shots at higher levels, but not so underbankrolled that you risk a quarter of your bankroll on one table. You typically have around 300BB bankrolled for limit poker, 10-25 buyins for NL. You sometimes like big tournaments.

Poker Conservative - You have around 500BB-1000BB+ for a limit bankroll, 50 or so buyins for NL. You never take shots at limits above your bankroll, and you don't like big tourneys.

im certainly on the conservative side. i like my 1000BB roll and dont feel comfortable with 300BBs. however, i plan on taking some shots in games this month where my roll might not be adequate. my passion for the game is starting to fade from grinding the kiddiepool. playing in games that give me an adrenaline rush might revive my motivation.

wish me good luck.

edit: i should also add that im willing to take more shots at games then i have in the past because i am so overrolled for the games that i play in that if i lose my buyin i dont lose any sleep over it. when i used to play for a living in casino games, dropping a portion of my bankroll meant dropping in limits and that is a good way to end up broke. my value of money has gone down because of my switch to internet play so i should be more willing to take shots since losing wont have nearly as significant of an effect on my ability to make a living and more importantly, my stress level.

I fall pretty evenly between the two, therefore I will stake claim to the name Poker Moderate.

I guess I fall in the moderate category also, but not really. I'm smart about my bankroll management and keep more than enough for the current level, but (especially recently) I've been moving up very aggressively. We're talking less than 10 hands at either 3/6 or 5/10 6max and I'm taking shots at 10/20, but I've got over 500BBs for 10/20 already so I'm not necessarily risking my bankroll.

(It also helps that I am a luckbox and run super good)

You will find those that do this for a living are far more conservative.

I have 1300 BB's at $10/20 at the current moment. I'm very comfortable with this, but wouldn't want to drop below 600 or so.

That's right. The more experienced the player is, the more tendency they have to lean toward the right. Newer players will take more shots, but sometimes the new players will start off tight and slowly work up. Shot-taking can be a good thing, though.

I was a poker liberal for most of 2004, but the higher I go in limits, the more conservative I get. I will move up at 500BB for the next level.
