Lenses for Digital Camera PLEASE HELP!!!

I have a canon A75 digital camera and I'm looking for a telephoto lens for sure and maybe a wide angle. I'm not a photographer by any means and don't need anything spectacular.

Is there anything wrong with this one, and are the filters necessary?

I'm also very much an amateur, so, for what it's worth...

Research rec.photo.digital on google (or whatever newsgroup reader you like) and the forums at dpreview.com to see if they have info on the specific lenses in the auction.

Personally, I was in the same boat with an Olympus C3040Z, and I ended up getting both a telephoto attachment and a wide angle. The wide angle attachment definitely comes in handy when you're shooting groups of people and outdoor scenery. I hardly ever use the telephoto, as it just doesn't make that much of a difference.

One thing to keep in mind is that the p&s cameras are all quite small, so unless you have an external flash, the flash becomes unusable as the lens attachments will cast shadows. Same with the viewfinder, if you use it...you'll have to rely on the LCD to see what it is you're shooting.

Definitely do the research, as those attachments get reposted to ebay often.

I know nothing about the lens linked, other then to say that when making a onetime purchase of optics, you are best off buying the highest quality compatible, in this case Canon.

Either way, you need the Canon Adapter Ring first. This is the ring that allows to attach either the wide or telephoto lens.

Then you can either buy the ones you linked, or the Canon Wide or the Canon Telephoto lens.

Enjoy.

EDIT:

Filters...

The filters are nice to have, but day to day, no you do not need them for taking casual photos.

If you have photoshop, you really dont need them at all, but them are nice in some cases for 'artsy' stuff.

For what it is and what it's for, this will do nicely.

There's your problem.

Should have bought a Nikon.
