cold cards exist, but like hot streaks are not to be used as predictors of future outcomes. The existence of cold cards is a historical fact relating to how lucky you have been, but which has no direct relation to the outcome of future hands. Indirectly it affects how you play and how people at the table relate to you.

Self doubt is far and away the biggest leak in my game when the cards "run cold". It has only been recently when I have forced myself to play "correctly" and stop being results oriented that I have really been able to play my way out of the coldness.

The cards have absolutely no memory at all, they don't know whether they're cold or hot.

Play enough and you'll get streaks, both hot and cold.

"Cold cards" is a term that comes from cheating at poker. Dealers would shuffle a deck and then switch it for one that had been stacked. The new deck had a "cold" feel to it because the cards hadn't seen any action.

If you are playing with cold decks, then you are bound to lose... unless you're in on it.
