QQ versus TAG opener

Event Type: BugsysClub Real Money Tournament
Event Buy-In: $20+$2 ($1,280 total prize pool)
Game: No Limit Hold 'em
Level XI: 100 Ante 400/800 Blinds (100 Minimum Chip)
Average Stack: 26,666.66 (10,000 starting chips)
Remaining Players: 24 (64 started)

Hero has T72,000 chips
Villain has T28,000 chips

Villain has not played a hand in 45 minutes (over 3 orbits), including any of his blinds. He has shown down only 2 hands in the last hour AA, AKs (blinded away a good T5,000). Hero has been active, and has shown down average hands.

4 Folds to villain who raises to T3,600 in the cutoff (not likely to be stealing) Hero on button looks down at QQ?? There is T6,400 in the pot.

A push seems pretty easy. But you're leaving out some important info. Any limpers? How many chips do the SB and BB have?

Re: QQ versus TAG opener

SB T27,000
BB T26,500

8 handed, 4 folds to villain in the CO.

Normally I'd make it 10K, but you can't really fold to a push so you should probably just call and play poker. Having position helps.

Especially if villian (being the tighty that he is) won't fire a continuation bet on the flop with a missed AK. That should really define his hand on a ragged flop.

Not saying I disagree, but why?

Villain has to be playing at least 88++, and AJ+. A raise to 10K is going to leave me pot committed.

raise to 15K, your ahead of most of the time which will make him fold or play for all his chips. even if you lose the hand, your stack is still above average. If he had raised UTG, I would just call.

Exactly why you shouldn't pot commit yourself vs his reasonable 3 bet range (which has you crushed.)

See a flop. You're probably doubling him up if he does have a monster, but with that range chances are you'll just take down about 10K on a safe flop.

Re: QQ versus TAG opener

OK, let's say hero raises to 10K.

BB goes all in for T26,500.
CO goes all in for his remaining chips.

Can hero toss this?

BB is solid and is aware that both CO and hero have a hand.

There's probably T70,000 in the pot and hero needs to call T16,000 getting ~3:1. AK is unlikely for BB.
