Home game--no smoking--bad host?

Hosting my first game. A few of the people I'm inviting are smokers, but I don't want smoking in my house.

Am I a bad host if I make them go outside to smoke?

I was also considering setting up a table on my porch (weather says supposed to be 78 degrees). What do you think?

Thanks, H

I'm debating moving my game outside once it cools down a little bit, right now it's way too hot.

As for the smoking....well, several of the people that attend my game are also avid masturbators, but that doesn't mean I let them cum on my kitchen floor.

My homegame is inhabited almost entirely by smokers. My house is non-smoking, however. I have had ZERO complaints and to be honest I've had several people (smokers) say that they PREFERRED to play at my house BECAUSE it was non-smoking. The "inconvenience" of having to step outside for a minute while smoking is outweighed by having nice clean air to breathe while playing cards.

My setup is pretty ideal though, with my table setting up in the kitchen/dining room (one big room) and having a door right behind the table to step out onto a covered patio with large windows looking in on the action.

I'd set it as a non-smoking venue and just offer cig breaks every half hour or so (for tournaments) or every hour or so (for cash games). Cash games aren't as much of a concern as people can easily sit out a hand or two if they want to grab a smoke.

My regular game is smoke-free due to health concerns with the host. More than half of the regulars are smokers and no one has a problem with. The reason you choose to stay non-smoking shouldn't matter.

However, if the majority of the regulars are smokers and you plan to continue to host future tournaments, you're going to have to cater to them to keep them coming back. That means lots of smoke breaks that may end up lasting a little longer than scheduled.

I smoke, and even when I have people over to the house for poker, we go outside to smoke.

No smoking in the house. Not now. Not ever. Your house, your rules, man.

I'm a smoker and have played in several home games that don't allow smoking inside. I have no problem with that.
It's your house. Do what you want. If they have a problem with that then, well, It's their problem.
