Q about Book
 

Hi,
Reading this forum I complete a list of books I should read to learn this game. So
1) Omaha Hold 'Em Poker by Bob Ciaffone
2) Pot-limit and No-limit Poker by Bob Ciaffone and Stewart Reuben
3) Improved Your Poker by Bob Ciaffone
4) How Good Is Your Pot Limit Omaha by Stewart Reuben

BUT. I found this review of Bob's Omaha Poker.
This is review of Millenium Edition: web
So here is a question. Can I exclude Omaha Hold 'Em Poker by Bob Ciaffone from this list by reading this and forum?

I have read that crash course in PLO and it is quite good. If you want to save a few bucks by not purchasing Ciaffone's book, I don't think it will make any difference in your game.

By the way, "How good is your pot-limit omaha" is a good book for mid and high-limit PLO, but it has terrible advice for somebody playing low-limit PLO. It is too loose and aggressive. So I would suggest skipping that book.

I could already spot a major difference between the online-crash-course at pokerListings and SS2. While the anonymous online author says that position doesn't matter as much in PLO as in other forms of poker, Lyle Berman says exactly the opposite.

Stuff like that is freaking me out!

I mean simple logic seems to apply: If every Omaha hand stands for 6 Hold'em hands, then a full table of 10 players has 60 Hold'em hands in play. That means you should play super tight in early position and therefore you have a tremendous advantage in late position. Berman seems to be right....which is of course not surprising given his standing in the poker world.

Now if PokerListings couldn't get position right, what about the rest of their advice?

I read the first few pages of the crash course and it was wrong to dire. I can't say it was as bad as SS2, but it was close. The books you listed and play itself are the best routes to success.
