PLO8, Trips, K kicker

UTG+1 could be bluffing, could have a made fullhouse, or could have some other 9. I would probably consider bluffing as most likely, A9 second most likely. How does my raise look?

$600 PL Omaha Hi/Lo
UTG+2 ( $783.40 ), MP1 ( $601.60 ),
MP2 ( $240.92 ), CO ( $516.11 ), BUT ( $639.20 ),
SB ( $911.47 ), BB ( $1580.98 ), UTG+1 ( $743.07 ),
UTG ( $538.40 ), Hero ( $591 )

Hero is MP3 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

SB posts $3.
BB posts $6.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $6, 3
folds
, Hero calls $6,
CO raises $33, 3 folds, UTG+1 calls $27,
Hero calls $27

Flop: (105.00) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
UTG+1 bets $105, Hero raises $420

I think it's pretty bad.

If he has 44 or A9 then he's not folding, and you should check-call hoping to hit.

If he has a pure bluff then he is drawing very thin and you should check-call so he'll continue bluffing

Re: PLO8, Trips, K kicker

That makes sense. You would call off the rest of your stack if he keeps betting then?

My thinking was that after I called the flop he wouldn't keep betting unless he had a 9 and so it would be better not to give a pocket pair a chance to hit on the turn (plus I was thinking there was some chance he would fold a 9 afraid of a made boat). I wasn't sure if I'd want to call if he bet again on the turn and I hadn't hit, so I just figured I'd commit myself now; but I was kind of confused about how to play it (whenever I'm in doubt about how to play a hand, I've found it's usually most profitable to max bet or re-pot it). AA might have kept betting, though, so calling down might have been better.

Would you raise with 44 or 94?

One of the things I talk about on my website is why you are playing certain hands. You are playing KJT9 to flop a nice straight wrap with possible flush draw. You are not playing KJT9 to flop 994. Proceed with caution.

If only I got to pick what flop I wanted....

Agreed, but theres more to that, he probably wont fold if he has a 9 period all the raise does is eliminate the position you have on the guy. The only hand that would fold here is one without a 9 which is one you would want in there. You have a lot of outs, just call and hope to catch, you have position on him anyway.

Given that you think it's more likely he's bluffing than holding A9, I assume he's been taking stabs like this at the pot on many flops. Personally, I prefer the raise you made (even against A9 you've probably got 9 outs), but if he's very likely to fire another bullet with no hand again on the turn, perhaps a smooth-call is better.
