Serious malfunction of Poker Stars s/w

This just happened to me. The following is the email I sent Poker Stars.

[ QUOTE ]
I recently logged on and the software upgrade was installed. I signed up for a $21 heads up SNG #10653481. When it tried to open table, I got a "low system resources message". I tried rebooting and got the same thing. Finally, I was able to get to the table, but I could see the community cards, but I could not see my cards.

I demand a refund of the $21 for this SNG. Your hand history should show I played no hands.

You obviously have serious problems with your s/w. I will not be able to use Pokerstars until this is corrected.

I'll never understand why people feel the need to post this type of stuff. What do you think anyone in the zoo is going to do about it?

Typical responses:

"Wow, that sucks!"

"You deserve it!"

"Yeah, I would want my money back too!"

"low system resources message".

Does Stars owe you money if your monitor breaks?

I think it's very likely that the problem wasn't with their software. Was anything else malfunctioning at the time?

Unfortunately for most of us, misery seeks out company...

I actually imagine that he was trying to see if anyone else had the same problem, while simultaneously telling us his bad beat.

It's just like those threads on the strategy forums: "I got it all-in with top set on a drawless board and lost when the underset rivered quads. what did I do wrong?" 99% are looking for support/validation and 1% actually think someone might have some advice about risk or something

It didn't seem that way, but you could be right.

I logged on to Poker Stars again and it installed a new upgrade, apparently correcting the previous one. I logged onto some play money tables and everything appears OK.

I don't think the problem was with my system and I think they owe me a refund.

I would think people on this site would want to know about the problem with Poker Stars. I don't understand all the hostility in these replies.

people get angry and are looking for support. what usually happens is it turns out to be user error. also, in the few cases that it is not user error, emails with the word 'demand' in them are less likely to get what they are demanding.

stars and paradise have almost instant email support. waiting 10 minutes to let them respond and maybe fix things is usually prudent and will usually result in refunds where they are not "due", but would be granted with a nicer tone.

i'll never understand why people threaten and demand things from online sites when in reality we are 100% reliant on them doing the right thing in the absence of laws and jurisdiction. it just makes no sense to piss off a place that is 8,000 miles away and has the keys to your money.

This was a definate malfunction from Poker Stars. I usually don't use strong language, but they really have to refund my money. I thought other people might want to be aware of this and perhaps have had the same problem. The fact that Poker Stars immediately installed a new upgrade indicates that they are aware of the problem. I don't understand all this hostility. You would not be real happy if it happened to you.

You would not be real happy if it happened to you.

you are correct.

also, my post stated that in the cases when the site is wrong and you are right, that politely worded emails will get you refunds quicker. that's all i was saying.

i have read your posts for a year. i never classified you as an angry person, so i know you were just frustrated.

finally, if you thought my post was hostile, then you are over sensitive.
