Anybody know what this is for?
 

After freezing my account for unspecified reasons, Paradise poker sent me an email asking me to email them a creditcard statemtnt and proof of I.D. (drivers lisence).

I understand why they want ID, as i just issued a cashout, but why do they want the credit card statemtent.

The following paragraph was contained in their email to me.




I have used the services of ParadisePoker.com satisfactorily in the past via the Internet. I authorize ParadisePoker.com to charge my card accordingly to the maximum deposit from my credit card on a monthly basis up to the limits specified on my Paradise Poker account.



I agree that the electronic media record of my transaction held by ParadisePoker.com shall be used as the final determination to resolve any dispute I may have.



You may, from time to time, collect credit and other financially related information about me from credit bureaus, from me, and from other parties. You may use the information to determine my financial situation; you may give it to any credit bureau and other parties who have or may have financial or other business dealings with me, and you may use it for any purpose related to the provision to me of services I request from you.



I acknowledge that I have read all the information contained in the Paradise Poker Account Agreement. I hereby agree to abide by all the rules, terms, conditions, and agreements therein and as amended from time to time.


This, especially the first paragraph, seems a little shady, and I hope I'm not being scammed or anything.


Has anyone here had previous situations with paradise support, and were you asked to email a credit card statement as well?

Note: Paradise has not replied to my email asking why my account was frozen or why i have to do this.

Are you sure this isn't a phishing email scheme?

Make sure you do not click any links in the email and disclose
personal info via a website, no matter how genuine it appears.

Others may elaborate on paradise's cash-out requirements, as
I am not a member of those skins...

Well, I don't think its a random person, as paradise DID freeze my account. I'm just nervous of maybe a support member setting this whole thing up as a scam, since when he gets my fax, he will see my credit card info. also, because paradise is based outside of the U.S. If this where to happen, i could legally do nothing to stop them.

Am i being TOO cautious?

Wow. this sounds really bizarre. I would call Paradise and ask them about this email. If whoever answers tells you it's legitimate, call 12 hrs again when you can speak to someone else. Then ask for a supervisor.
That's the problem with the idiotic American government outlawing internet gambling. I'd much rather it was all legal and heavily regulated in the US than be forced to deal w/ offshore questionable entities.
And Paradise is one of the most trustworthy outfits out there too. Second only to Pokerstars. Really makes you question the wisdom of keeping too much money in your poker accounts.

Actually this seems to be pretty standard amongst online casinos/poker rooms when they suspect you of some sort of wrongdoing (such as using the wrong name, lying about your age, etc. etc.) It can also happen if one of your payment methods bounces or is denied. I've had to send info like this in to several online casinos to get my cashouts. And Party Poker asks for similar information if you want to be a "preferred player" and cashout faster.
