How does C(48,3)=17,296 & C(47,2)=1,081, work math out please thanks.

C(48,3) = (48 * 47 * 46)/(3 * 2) and C(47,2) = (47 * 46)/2.

More generally:

C(n,r) = n!/[(n-r)! * r!]
