Why is this ridiculous? Looks fine to me, except he should make it a little bit more on the flop.

EDIT: Damn, you're talking about spelling, right? I feel imbarassed.

you get raised, assuming he has any over cards, its 50/50 he has one of them (A,K,Q,J,T,9). If he calls you're screwed. Find a better spot. Or just reraise all-in preflop if you think he's full of it.

Re: rediculous?

It seems like villain most likely has KK or QQ and the main problem is that such a loose player may not lay those down, even with the A on board.

That said, I make this play all the time.

What you are saying makes little sense. There's nothing to suggest he'll reraise out of the blinds with any two cards 9 or higher. And nothing to suggest he will call the flop raise if he does indeed have J9. When he reraises out of the blinds, he's probably on a big pair or AK, even if he's a 19% pfr. If his hand range is AA-JJ/AK, and he will always fold KK-JJ to this raise, it's profitable.

Hero is not raising for value here, he's bluffing. If he gets called, he shouldn't even be comfortable turning an 8. (Even though he probably should get his money in the pot.)

Re: rediculous?

Oops, sorry, meant to put it under original post, my bad. As for your comments, in BB four handed, I can see a raise with just about any two big cards. Maybe even Q9s or K9s. I agree that a raise on the flop will push KK/QQ off their hand and that is +EV, but I worry about a more likely scenario of BB having an A or T. Anyway, I think overall you are right, the play is good overall. The more I think about it, if he will play smart postflop, then your raise is good here as it will push him off a lot of hands.

[/ QUOTE ] How will villain fold KK but not KT on the flop? And why do you think this is four handed?

And that reraising K9s out of the BB is fine, is just crazy talk.

Re: rediculous?

I made the raise big. I figure he'd fold everything except sets and AK. His PF range here I figured was very large, including things worse than 88.

but this is still clown [censored].
