I realize that for value purposes i should probably bet the Qs on the flop. I usually would in this situation, but it seemed like a good line would be to:

Check after him on the flop, with "uncertainty".
If he checks the turn again, make a bet that looks to be a steal and see if i can induce a bluff raise. Or if he bets into me on the turn, raise it there. In limit, i almost always bet this flop, but with NL is it wrong to think that you can make up for those bets later?

On the flop i also considered the flush draw, as well as the possible open ended, but dismissed the open ended knowing i would have had 2 of his 8 outs.

I'm grateful for any help in this situation.

you, sir, are a victim of FPS. bet the flop.

Fancy play syndrome. Gotcha.

I guess i shouldn't be adjusting my play as much as i have been from Limit to NL, and i realize this might not have happened had i bet the flop. (villian had A3o to river a 5 for straight, 4 outs)

Trying not to be results oriented though.

Bet the flop. With the two hearts out, you have no choice. You don't have to bet the pot, but you've at least got to make the guy pay while you're ahead.

The more i think about it, the more i can't believe i even made that play. Naturally, the problem is that's one of the rare times that the (wrong) decision was exploited.....it's just sad that that's what it took for me to realize it was not the right move.

:shame:

Don't be the guy who checks every flop he hits and bets every one he misses. The reason continuation bets work when you miss is that you also bet flops that hit you, too.

Re: Was this a bad play?

Of course, then you just get the legions of posters on this thread who attack those who 'predictably' always throw out continuation bets after their EP preflop raises, even on 'scary' flops...

Out of curiousity, did villian have the Ace of hearts?

What's so bad about your play? If you both exposed your cards on the turn who would be labeled stupid?

Your opponent moved all in with 7 outs. I wish that
would happen to me more often. Of course when you lose
it's easy to be a Monday morning quarterback.
