You really need to get used to raising this preflop in this situation. You might isolate the limper, but even if the blinds are the kind who will defend with any two cards, there are some advatages to raising here. First, you often have the best hand preflop, so your raise is for value. Second, you might buy the button, which is very nice when you have a hand with drawing possibilities. Finally, your preflop aggression gives you a lot of fold equity if everyone misses the flop.

Overlimping here is a clear error IMO. Not a huge leak or anything, but raising should be routine.
