Wow! They go into re-runs for a couple of weeks while they move to a new studio and *WHAMMO!* Jon Stewart turns into the aggressor when dealing with his bullshitting guest(s). He tore this Goldberg (or whatever his name is) a new one. It was very interesting to watch him actually pick on the book that this guy was on to promote. The title was something like '100 people who are screwing up the country'. I wonder if he'll approach Dems in the same manner. Or maybe he just had a stick up his ass for one show. He was fairly relentless. I like it.

I think it was just a random stick up his ass. That guy was easy pickins and I don't think Jon could resist.

I think it is a bit of a worthless effort to evaluate the interviewing style of a comedian on a fake news show. However, as funny as Stewart is, he is total ass to conservative guests and a cream puff to liberal guests.

He is much funnier when he sticks to comedy and leaves the political statements to serious people.

When O'Reilly had his run-in with the Daily Show he made an ass out of himself, and ended up drawing attention to how much better educated the Daily Show crowd is than his own crowd (according to research which he would not dispute).

So tell me how Bill O'Reilly's political statements are more serious than Jon Stewart's. Is it because O'Reilly's channel covers more car chases and hurricanes?

Obviously Stewart's loyal audience loves it when he gets serious. I for one have his appearance on Crossfire on my computer still, and it was by far the most popular Crossfire segment in internet history.

I only saw the episode you talked about, but I'm disappointed.

The Daily Show has been one of my favorite things to watch on television for years, and I've always thought Jon Stewart was doing a great job. But he needs to take a page from Bill Maher if he is going to try to turn the show into something more serious. Even if Maher completely disagrees with what one of his guests says, he lets them speak and doesn't try to make them into a joke. If they already are a joke, he pretty much lets them hang themselves.

Frankly, Stewart acted like a real jerk to that author, and came close to outright mocking him more than once. That's not the way to do things if you are trying to take the show down a more serious road. People aren't going to be able to take Stewart's opinions seriously if he behaves like a monkey during interviews with those he disagrees with. Eventually people will see how he treats the guests he disagrees with, and he won't be able to get anyone worth much to come back on the show.

Again, I've been a fan of Jon Stewart and The Daily Show for a long time, but that was tough to stomach. The other producers need to tell him to, "Pull it back a bit."

I fully agree with AngryCola for once. He was a total ass to Bernie Goldberg. I must admit that I laughed at it, but it was definitely uncalled for.

What was the ORIGINAL aire date on that show please?

I love the Daily Show, but miss it often.

I was a fan when the Craiger was still the host, too! (don't nit, he called himself that)

I thought Stewart was pushing the envelope with Goldberg, but I don't think he stepped over the line. Goldberg didn't need any help in coming off as a stupid jackass. I agree with Grey, Stewart had a random stick up his ass. I hope that he does not "Pull it back a bit.", but I hope that when the Democratic equivalent of Golberg comes on his program he tears them a new one as well. Goldberg had it coming, IMO.

No, nobody 'has it coming'. That's the point.

If you want to be taken seriously, you have to treat your guests with at least some amount of respect.

The only problem I had with the interview was the many times Stewart cut him off. Even if he jumps in with a very valid point, it is bad form and comes off very badly.
