Resolution Question...

I have 2 17 crts and they both have a max resolution of 1280x1024.
the problen is that when there both hooked up i cant get them to run at this resolution at the same time.
The only time they both have the same res is when there at 1024x768.
Should i be able to run both monitors simultanouly at there max resolutions?
please help
thx

You definitely should. What are you using for video card(s)?

i have a radeon 7000 AGp card with 32MB. I run both monitors off this card and use a dvi to vga adapter.

7000 is an old budget card, it might not even support having different res on the two monitors.

Re: Resolution Question...

I would buy a faster newer card if I were you, even if you did run them both at same high res it would be slow. I assume the rest of the computer about the same age/speed?

Re: Resolution Question...

Forget about multimonitor until you have atleast one UXGA monitor running 1600x1200
anything less is a waste of time and effort.

Re: Resolution Question...

Actually i just bought this card before i bought this i had onboard video on my ASUS motherboard. So i basically just bought a card that had 2 connectors on it
I have noticed some lag when i was multitabling for the first time though i have only 256 of RAM. Was thinking of getting another stick of 256. Should that help?
Thanks for the reply.

Re: Resolution Question...

Another 256mb will help. I would also suggest getting another graphics card though. Radeon 9600 is a good budget choice, less than $75. What cpu you got? Upgrading graphics and memory might be a waste of money if cpu is too slow.

I have an intel celeron that operates at 2.0 gig

Re: Resolution Question...

I would start with adding more ram then, and if that wont help, a new graphics card. And if that didn't help me either I would buy a used cpu (P4) on ebay, good value. Celeron is a budget cpu with low cache not optimal for multiple processes. Try memory first though.
