You can\'t play poker standing up

After over three years of playing at Caesar's In they decided tonight that I couldn't be dealt cards unless I sat down. New dealer and floor people I didn't recognize insisted it was the rule that I couldn't be dealt cards if I was standing.

For those of you who haven't figured it out, I am fat. After about four or five hours of sitting, I start to hurt and I need to stand for a little while. A dealer I have never seen before starts her down and informs me I have to sit down if I want cards. I stand up on a regular basis and have for the pretty much the entire time I have been playing poker. I don't stand up for long 10 or 15 minutes just until I quit hurting and am ready to sit again.

Billy (poker room manager)just happened to be standing there when I decided to leave and He said He would talk to the floor about it.

All this venting aside, is standing up against the rules everywhere or just tonight at Caesar's IN?

I won't rant too much. You have to be seated to play your hand. Some floorstaff that don't really understand the rules too well take that to mean you need to be seated to be dealt in, this isn't the case, if you are close to the table there is no problem with being dealt in. If you are constatnly asking to be dealt in and aren't back in time to play that is a problem.

For those of you who haven't figured it out, my ass gets really sweaty and I need to stand up for four or five minutes every hour or so to air out.

FYP.

Actually, that's the truth with me.

TMI, I know.

"Technically" yes it is a rule. You must be seated to get dealt cards. But I dont ever enforce it as it is just what another poster says..."a nit rule".

One word, Baby Powder. Wait that's two words but like your reply it is too much information.

I wouldn't mind in your case at all. But, as a rule it drives me crazy when someone is standing up while playing (especially, if they are directly beside me). Usually it is done pretentiously; similar to when someone wins a, relatively speaking, big pot and jumps up and claps and hoots. Sit the xxx down, dude (not you, the guy posturing).

But, like others said, too often rules are enforced literally, instead of in a manner for which they were written.

It sounds like you're just standing up between hands. You might be standing when the cards are dealt but actually sit to play the hand, right? If that's the case, then yeah, this is a super-nit situation.

Will they (routinely) not deal you in if you're on the way back from the bathroom but visible to the dealer?

Edit: 1000th post, w00t!

Where i play there is always someone at the table making sure during every hand , noone is standing up with cards , any napkins on table , noone with cards on cellphones etc.... the bad beat jackpot sits at around 50K - 70K and it has been voided due to one of these small nitty rules.

I agree with the rule not allowing standing. If I take a 2nd look at my hole cards I don't want a guy possibly looking down at my cards from above and/or behind me. I also want to see a guy's face during play. I don't want to be limited to his 2 hands.
